  1. The mission statement focuses on Christianic values, education, and respect; all of which are ideas I like to practice during my educational process, and outside in the real world. The University's statement sums up just about what I would like to focus on during school, and outside of it. Intellectual creativity, lifelong learning, critical thinking, decision making, moral values, and respect for everyone are just a few of the values I try to live by. The fact that Madonna includes these in the college experience just helps mesh the line of my life in and out of school even more. I would like to try and maintain my distinct sets of values in all aspects of my life, rather than trying to be a different person in and out of school. I strongly believe that the mission statement should be more than just the schools, but that I should also try to adopt it; as best I can.

  2. Having been in a Catholic school since kindergarden, the statement "Madonna students understand and apply Christian principles to personal, family and social life by assuming responsibility for decisions based on moral values" is very important to me. I am very comfortable expressing my faith and beliefs with those around me. At Madonna I believe I can do that without being ridiculed for my morals.

  3. The Felician sisters are contiuing to instill the values I have learned to live by through my 12 years of Catholic education. In continuing this tradition, the mission statement is parallel to my goals of a higher education which I will gain from Madonna University.

  4. This mission statement very much encourages my Catholic traditions. I enjoy that Madonna is ,not only willing to strengthen my catholic beliefs, but also my academics. Being a Madonna student, I plan to live out this tradition in the classroom and also in my everyday life. Madonna will definitely help us all that are attending the university to grow as a whole and mature greatly.

  5. Choosing Madonna University for a secondary education was not influenced by the structure of Catholic traditions, but stood out as a private university that I could commute to as I progress toward my bachelor's degree. However; being thrown into the first two weeks of college courses, I've gained insight to how closely the mission statement ties to my personal college experience thus far. As many students find appreciation in the religious traditions of Madonna, it is not solely about religion, but the concepts of moral values, along with the acceptance and recognition of the campus' wide spectrum of diversity. These concepts have not only made me more mindful of my surroundings in a classroom but reside more dominantly in my conscious in many aspects of my life. Continuing my education, I can only see myself growing more appreciative of the rich culture around me, along with the resources, opportunities and services that students, professors and other faculty provide.

  6. Madonna's misson statement and my own beliefs are closely aligned. Madonna's Catholic core is in direct correlation with the values and beliefs that have been instilled in me by both my parents and the Church. Another similarity between my beliefs and Madonna's mission statement is to think critically. In a culture which is making decisions based more often on emotion than thought the ability to think critically has become almost a necessity in order to live out a Christian life. Also critical thinking combined with intelligent inquiry leads one to seek out the truth and the reasons for things or the hidden agendas rather than just accepting issues with their face value. Through out my childhood my parents have always stressed the importance of life long learning and I readily agree with them. Life long learning allows one to be open to criticism, and keeps one humble by learning from our own mistakes. I believe that we were all made to serve God in our own unique way, but that we are to serve him by serving each other. This follows Madonna's mission of serving others and is yet another point in which I agree with the mission statement. Over all the goals of the mission statement are close to my own beliefs.

  7. Madonna's mission statement really focuses on the Catholic religion. Being that I'm not Catholic that part doesn't really apply to me, but is still and important thing to know how the religion differs from Christianity, which I believe in. I think this really ties into the whole diversity topis, just because you believe one thing doesn't mean you shouldn't be open to learning others perspectives.

  8. The Madonna mission statement doesnt just focus on the catholic viwes on life but also the values in which everyone should live by. Like treat others the way you wish to be treated, no matter on race or ethnicity, we live in a diverse world but everyone deserves to be treated like equals. I grew up most of my life as a christian but switch to catholicism for family reasons but I have always agreed with the ways catholics had prespectives on topics. It applies to my life at school and outside of school because it is the way I live my life everyone deserves to be treated as one as we all live on the same world.

  9. Although I did not choose Madonna for the strategic incorporation of religion, I do however appreciate various qualities that the school brings forth. A copious amount of universities are too extravagant in order to receive the opportunity to use what you learn socially on one another. Here at Madonna you are equipped with all of the necessary ways of connecting and thinking with one another.

Madonna's Mission Statement focuses significantly on "moral values" and accepting vast differences in cultures which is well incorporated in every student's education. Over just a short amount of time, the student body has been able to connect with one another and exercise the skills they have obtained from the school using the content of the Mission Statement but only for a segment amount of time.

For me, I look at this question and the answer in a more mathematical equation. Madonna seeks to have a successful linear equation so Madonna's Mission Statement is "Y." "Y" is the result of the balanced equation so we the students are reflecting off one another making us "a+b." Without "a+b" there is no realistic "Y=" equation, thus it would only be an idealistic response. Altogether, successfully, would we make a "Y=a+b."

At this point in time I cannot go much deeper than this because I have only been at this school for a short period of time in order to report my experiences on how this Mission Statement applies in my life. This school holds different values that I will have to adjust to from the other schools I have attended.

  10. I will be honest, Madonna was not my first choice for a university. In fact, it wasn't even on my list of colleges and universities that I was checking in to. My decision to attend Madonna could be explained as nothing other than a life-altering last minute decision.

The Mission Statement refers to learning about yourself as a person, respect and acceptance for variance, commitment and dedication, and last but not least, a hint of religious value. What stuck out to me the most was learning about yourself. Most people that attend college are fresh high school graduates that are between the ages of 17-19. I feel like that is the time where we really try to decipher who we are and what we stand for. With that in mind, Madonna's Mission Statement clearly identifies that before you can succeed and choose a life path, you must first know yourself.

As for outside of school, the Mission Statement will also affect me. Attending Madonna impacts every angle of my life. I chose to go to this university, I choose to continue going to this university, and I will complete my 4 years at this university. Therefore, I will learn to love and never part from the Mission Statement!
